if you're gonna be in Los Angeles this Friday, January 8th, you GOTTA drop by Gallery 1988 and check out the Under The Influence: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Tribute show they're doing! the poster above is by Tom Whalen, one of the 100 artists who will be exhibiting. Tom is doing a run of the 20"x 10" posters (limited to 83, because He-Man and the Masters of the Universe debuted in 1983) that will be available at the gallery for purchase, so get in where you fit in...

I never had much use for MotU (was a Thundarr fan, though), but that poster is chock full of awesome.

Though I can't figure the iron cross in front of "He-Man".

Still, chock full of awesome.

it's the symbol on He-Man's chest.

I watched masters of the universe every day, although i complained about the ludicrous stories the whole time.

and Thundarr is probably the most under-appreciated cartoon of all time!

Ah, the symbol. Shows how much I know about MotU. I think I did the same watch/complain about Thundercats.

I'm thinking a Thundarr movie might be in order, what with the 2012 frenzy.

sigh... i think a properly-executed Thundarr would be great, but i also think the likelihood is that they would totally get it wrong. it's ready-made for film, but if the industry could not figure out Fantastic Four (which, like Thundarr, is READY-MADE for the big screen), i will remain skeptical.
