Comicbook World #58: Diamond Planet

I admit it: When I heard that scientists had discovered a planet made of diamond, the first thing that came to my mind was Crystar: Crystal Warrior... Just in case you are not a total dork like me, Crystar: Crystal Warrior was a sci-fi fantasy adventure mini-series created by Marvel Comics in the early eighties for the express purpose of pimping to toy companies, the easier to fleece pre-teen boys of their allowance... Oh, I guess you wanna hear more about the diamond planet, huh?
Sure... today is a great day for science...

Preview- "Corsairs: Captain's Log" by Charlie Goubile & Daniel McNeal

Unfortunately, I didn't make it out to Onyxcon this weekend... If I had, I can promise you I would'a copped Corsairs: Captain's Log, which teases the upcoming space action joint by Charlie Goubile and Daniel McNeal about "rebel space pirates from poverty stricken colonies, who are forced to rob and steal for their own survival." If you're not familiar with his work, Erik Reeves is an example of a largely unknown cartoonist whose stock is rising in the comics world. Besides being a go-to guy in the design world, Erik is carving out a niche in the Dallas comics scene with his self-published sci-fi-action comic, Peacekeeper: Old World Order. I snatched the preview below from the jaws of Indyplanet, where the first issue is on sale now.

I came across this awesome one page comic Bloodshed by Corey "Rey" Lewis yesterday, and thought it was awesome! It's his recreation of a character from his childhood, influenced by the wacky early 90's anti-heroes we loved so much back then. Peep the motion comic and some blahzay blah from Corey below.

PREVIEW- "Staceytron: Mass Perception"

I did a piece for the faceless internet nerd demigoddess Stacey Owens for her artbook project Staceytron: Mass Perception last year, and now the book is finally out. The cover was smashed out by the venerable Dave Johnson and the book includes a laundry list of dope artists known and unknown, so it will be a great bit of exposure for me I think. Why don't you peep some preview art while I go pat myself on the back?
