Alex Ross covers "Pacific Rim" prequel comic

As you should already know, my geek flag is flying for Pacific Rim, the kaiiju-busting giant robot movie helmed by Guillermo Del Toro. The movie is due out in July, but in June, Legendary Comics is dropping a graphic novel prequel called Pacific Rim: Tales From Year Zero, written by Pacific Rim screenwriter Travis Beacham, with pencils by Sean Chen, Yvel Guichet, and Pericles Junior, and inks by Steve Bird and Mark McKenna. So, it's not gonna be wack. Peep the cover art by the mighty Alex Ross below...

I talk (a lot) about how the industry doesn't take enough advantage of the symbiotic nature of comics and movie fandom, so I gotta say I'm impressed by Legendary Entertainment, parent company of Legendary Pictures and Legendary Comics. I like what they're doing with graphic novels set in their movie universes, and I hope to see more of this trend. I would love to see them make similar graphic novels of all their film properties (Inception, The Hangover, etc). Obviously, there's lots of opportunities in games, toys and animation, but I'm glad this ambitious media company is also making comics!
Speaking of other opportunities...

Pacific Rim Series 1 - Gipsy Danger 7-inch Figure

Pacific Rim Series 1 - Crimson Typhoon 7-inch Figure

Anyways, Pacific Rim will hit theaters July 13th, and Tales From Year Zero will be in stores June 3rd.
