What do you Think of this LOSERS trailer?

here's the trailer for The Losers, which adapts the DC/Vertigo Spy-Fi comic of the same name. I don't know how this movie could possibly be as good as the comic, but it does look pretty freaking awesome... fine ass Zoe Saldana (Star Trek, The Terminal) plays Aisha, and my man Idris Elba (Obsessed, Rock N Rolla, American Gangster) plays Roque, so I'm in there (some other people are in it too LOL!). Most people will not know this is a comics adaptation, so click here  to cop The Losers, Volume 1&2 (extra cheap at just over 13 bucks) and make yourself look smart when people start talking about it when the movie drops April 9th. I've been geeking on this comic and movie adaptation for a minute, but the way I see it, the more the merrier! if you wanna read more of my ramblings about The Losers (who wouldn't?) click here.

Jeremy Love + FRAGGLE ROCK = HELL YES!!!

I just found out that your man Jeremy Love (Bayou, Blind Monkey Style, Shadow Rock) is gonna be drawing the new Fraggle Rock mini-series from Archaia! If you're having trouble remembering (or just too young to know what I'm talking about), Fraggle Rock was a show about little creatures called Fraggles that live in a subterranean world and have adventures along with the other odd creatures down there. The Fraggles were brought to life by Master puppeteer and storyteller, the late Jim Henson (The Muppet Show, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth).

After all these years, I guess the reason to do a comic about Red, Mokey, Wembley, Gobo, and the rest of the Fraggles is to pave the way for Fraggle Rock: The Movie, which is scheduled for 2011. According to IMDB, the Fraggles travel from beneath the Rock and finally make contact with the human world in the flick, but I couldn't tell you much more than that (like, whether it will be puppets, a cartoon, or CGI). When I know more, I'll update you... until then, peeps who wanna buy the complete series on DVD can get it on Amazon! just click here.

Start The Day Off RIGHT----------->

one of my friends got me talking about Mars ILL the other day... I talk about them on this blog from time to time, but just in case I haven't been clear enough, let me be obvious: Mars ILL's debut album Raw Material is in my top 3 albums of all time.

Download the New Black Panther Cartoon

Props to my man Marcus who found this torrent download for episodes 3 & 4 of the new Black Panther cartoon. to download that joint click here. If you were late getting to the YouTube playlists I posted last week, you can thank Marvel (and/or BET) for flexing their copyright and having the videos pulled. this brings me back to my theory that they released Black Panther exclusively in Australia on purpose as a risk-free way to legally 'leak' it, then yank it after gauging early fan reaction. Obviously, this is just my chocolate-milk-induced conspiracy theory, but I don't think anyone in corporate media is dumb enough (even at Marvel and BET) to believe you can release a new cartoon, but keep it inside the lines you draw for it. So then why do it? well, I have MY answer. Hopefully, they learned what they wanted to know, and govern themselves accordingly... as for me, I think I'll reread the TPB when I get a free minute!

Samuel L Jackson to Co-write new comic "Cold Space"

Ever since he played Mr. Glass in movies-that-should-be-comics classic Unbreakable, Sam L Jackson has made himself a fanboy go-to guy, effectively spinning the unauthorized likeness rip of Ultimates HNIC Nick Fury into a four color resume for his role as the grizzled man-of-war in the Iron Man franchise, and likely in upcoming Marvel movies like Thor, Avengers and so on. Now he's taking the next logical step...

Sam L will co-write Cold Space for BOOM! Studios with his Afro-Samurai writer and producer Eric Calderon. The book will have art by Jeremy Rock (Threshold, Robocop: Simple Machines) with covers by Dave Johnson (100 Bullets, Unknown Soldier) and Jeffrey Spokes (Irredeemable).  Of course, Jackson will also 'star' in the book, lending his familiar likeness to the book's resident space-faring tough guy...
here's the sales pitch:
From legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson and Emmy nominated writer/producer Eric Calderon, the team that brought you the Emmy-award-winning, best-selling Afro Samurai, comes their next original series — Cold Space! When an on-the-run outlaw crash-lands on a hostile planet on the brink of civil war, he finds himself caught in the crossfire between two warring factions. But in chaos lies opportunity... because where there's war, there's money to be made! A hard-boiled sci-fi action-adventure with covers by Eisner Award-winning artist Dave Johnson and Irredeemable cover artist, Jeffrey Spokes!
32pgs, FC $3.99

going from movies to comics will seem illogical and backwards to some, but it's not. Even though comics doesn't generate the money that film does, it doesn't cost what film does either. and there's one thing that comics knows how to cultivate: Fans that will spend money on movies.  This is a good look for BOOM! as well, who have managed to get connected to several projects (NOLA, Incredibles, The Muppet Show) with movie/TV properties, talent, or both.  What do YOU think?
oh yeah, so here's a brief interview, where Jackson seems to know nothing about his role in Thor! NICE! Sam Jack is so cool that he's clean even when he's clueless!

Travolta Knows Best -- ("From Paris With Love" red band clip)

peep this From Paris With Love clip, featuring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and John Travolta. in the film, Meyers plays an embassy employee who seeks out the help of a trigger-happy American spy played by a baldie-and-goatee-sportin' John Travolta. as we already know from the trailer, this movie will have cartoony action scenes that remind me of previous Travolta flick Swordfish, and probably more of them, since it's directed by Pierre Morel, who brought us Taken. Like Taken, I figure this movie will be good, ignorant fun. a good joint to catch at the matinee or sneakeasy, but not something that's a must-watch.
From Paris With Love hits the states February 5th.

Eric Canete is drawing the new LUKE CAGE Book!!!

If that headline got you anywhere near as excited as I was to learn about it on Newsarama, you probably need to calm down. I mean, I'm a comicbook nerd by occupation... YOU should probably keep your composure! anyways, I wasn't just screwing with you... that dude Eric Canete (The End League, Cybernary, Iron Man:Enter the Mandarin) is drawing New Avengers: LUKE CAGE, a new mini-series set to drop in April, starring soul brother #1 Luke Cage of the New Avengers (but of course old-heads like ME know him best as the Power Man half of Power Man and Iron Fist!). Normally, I would be ranting about how Luke Cage needs to have some pride and put a shirt on for the cover, but since Eric Canete drew that joint, it's okay! anyways, peep the preview pages below (click 'em to enlarge), and stay tuned for more news!

old school Luke Cage with Iron Fist!

According to series writer John Acurdi (Wednesday Comics, BPRD, Aquaman), "Luke discovers that an old friend, or rather the son of an old friend, has been following in his own footsteps down in North Philadelphia in a kind of “Hero-for-Hire” business. The young man, Leodis, has set up in the worst part of the city to help out people who couldn’t find help anywhere else. For his trouble, Leodis is beaten to a pulp. So now Luke feels that since this poor broken kid tried to be like him, he’s got to do something about this, which is to say, go kick some ass. But once he gets there, the facts are revealed to be a bit more complicated than what I’ve just told you..."
so, what do you think? yeah, YOU! Canete is an artist that people tend to love or hate... I know MY vote, so which one are you? Do you think he will make a good fit for Luke Cage?
holla like ya know me!
