Brand takes paycut to get Davis?

After getting great seats at the NBA Finals and seeing what can happen when other people on your team can play too, Clippers star Elton Brand opted out of his contract and will take less money so his team can sign Warriors point god... i mean guard Baron Davis to a five-year, $65 million deal. the deal is far from done of course... due to legal mumbo-jumbo, Davis (an L.A. native) can't sign any deal until July 9th. and with Brand currently a free agent, many teams (Miami and Golden State among them) are throwing roses (and money) at the big guy's feet, trying to woo him away from the Clips.
The Clippers are hoping Davis can breathe life into the perennial losing club like he did at Golden State, where he averaged 21.8 points, 7.6 dimes and 4.7 boards. Davis took his team into the second round of the playoffs his second year with the Warriors (after they had missed the playoffs for twelve consecutive seasons) and snagged the most wins in NBA history (48) for a lottery team in his third season, either accomplishment would be huge step up for the Clippers...
