The hip hop world paused today to mourn the passing of Keith Elam, known around the world as Guru, the rhyming half of GangStarr, one of the most venerated rap duos of all time.


Six weeks after recovering from a heart attack and subsequent surgery, Guru passed on Monday due to complications with an undisclosed cancer, according to Hip Hop DX. Our condolences go out to Guru's family, friends and colleagues. Guru leaves behind a massive, celebrated catalog of music and his contribution to the hip hop culture, which won't be forgotten.
