the Cover that got me on board of Kirkman and Adlard's "The Walking Dead"

I am immune to peer pressure. I didn't start reading The Walking Dead even though all my friends were raving about it. I mean, an ongoing zombie comic? Yawn. But then they put a sister with a samurai sword taking her jawless pet zombies for a walk on the cover. You know what happened next...
Here's the Sales Pitch:
The group has a visitor, but is she friend, foe or worse? Where did she come from? How did she survive? Can she be trusted? This is the beginning of a new story arc, an excellent jumping-on point for new readers. The quest to rebuild civilization starts here.

In a move designed (I guess) to capitalize on the AMC television show debut, Walking Dead publisher Image comics decided to re-release the issues of the series on a weekly basis in a reprint series entitled (wait for it) The Walking Dead Weekly. A pretty slick way to make some extra bread from a really good comic. In case you haven't tried it, and my cosign means anything, this comic is the shit. You should check it out. click here to cop The Walking Dead, Book 1 and prepare to have your guts ripped out regularly, as Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard kill off characters you love (or love to hate) on a regular basis! If you prefer to fuxwit the Weekly joint, issue #19 just dropped this past week. Get 'em while they're hot!
later.

  7. I love this series and I love Michonne. I can't wait to see her in the TV series. She is honestly one of the best women characters created within recent times

  8. Wait, I hope you guys made the connection between Michonne and the character from 28 Days Later? I'm just saying.

All in all, Walking Dead comic is tight.

  10. The cover is stunning, the interior art is gorgeous, but I'm still giving this a pass.

The undead bore me now. with very few exceptions, NotLD is the only undead creation that I will tolerate anymore. Everything since feels like a rip-off of NotLD and no matter how good the story might be, I would like something original, please. (Opinionated? Why, yes I am!)

The Gutters has a great mock on The Walking Dead.

  11. I think there's room for all kinds of genre books in comics. Zombie books have their place. I'll check out "NotLD". I really think most of Walking Dead's fans are there because of the creators more than the zombies per se.
