start the day off Right w/the Pharcyde

This classic video (directed by Spike Jonze, I think) for the Pharcyde single Drop is one of my favorite rap videos ever...

This song and video are emblematic of the kind of innovative material that was poking its head out of the hip hop underground in the mid nineties, and which has infatuated rap nerds like yours truly ever since. This joint is from their second album, Labcabincalifornia and was produced by Jay Dee. The video was shot backwards (with the crew lip syncing to the track playing in reverse) and features cameos by Redman and the Beastie Boys (no doubt showing support of  Jay Dee's sample of their song The New Style). Like classic songs Running, and Passing Me By, this joint will make sure heads never forget The Pharcyde's place in rap history...
anyways, have a nice day!
