IN STORES TODAY- Invincible #89

If this was DC or Marvel, they would have teased it for a year in advance and then relaunched it... Just saying...

PREVIEW- "Girl&Boy" a Vigilante Romance Comic by Andrew Tunney

This dude Andrew Tunney followed GhettoManga on Twitter this morning, so I checked out his website, which had a preview of his vigilante romance comic Girl&Boy on it... If the preview art is any indication, this dude is DOPE! Peep the preview below...

You Know You Want It: "Empowered Deluxe Edition Volume 1" hardcover

For all the fans of light bondage fetish comics out there (you know who you are), here's a preview of some of the bonus material from the first Empowered hardcover, by the mighty Adam Warren...

FOR THE KIDS: NUKKULLHEADZ #1 & 2

Here's something you can give to your kids without getting in trouble with your spouse! Well, maybe... I don't know your spouse, so I promise nothing! But if your significant other is anything like cool, you should be safe handing the shorty a copy of Chris "Crazyhouse" Miller's kid fantasy hero comic Nukkull Headz. Peep this preview of #1 & 2:

Indyplanet Wishlist- Oad Rain

I was checking out the new releases on Indyplanet this weekend and came across this sci-fi comic Oad Rain by new underground publisher GenR8 Comix.

These college degrees don't Signify me, especially when I'm still makin' under 55 gees..." -Signif

Feel like having a chick spit in your ear, but don't wanna listen to bullshit? Turn off your radio and get next to Signif.  She go hard...

(p)Review- "Glory" by Joe Keatinge + Ross Campbell

art by Ross Campbell. PLEASE click to enlarge!
I bought a bunch of comics this week, and they were all great! For example, this week saw the debut of Extreme Studios' non-reboot Glory, with art by the emerging super-talent Ross Campbell (Wet Moon, Shadoweyes, Mountain Girl). As usual, Ross smashed it...

(p)REVIEW- "Prophet #1" by Brandon Graham and Simon Roy

I dropped in on my comic shop after work yesterday and walked out with a nice haul of books, ALL of which I'll be writing reviews for. Arguably the best book I took home was Prophet #21,  the debut issue of the brain-melting creative team of Brandon Graham and Simon Roy.  As someone who actually read the original series, I gotta say this is probably the greatest revamp ever.

BegBorrowSteal #192- "Robot13: Colossus" trade paperback

Okay, I just resisted my obvious robophobic urges and put in a pledge on Kickstarter for Blacklist Studios' fundraiser for the Robot13: Colossus Trade Paperback. Yeah, it's THAT good! In case you've never read it, the Robot13 comic is a proud contributor to the "monster-killer in monster's clothing" genre popularized by the likes of Blade and Hellboy. And since I'm one of the cool kids, you should follow my lead and do it too.
Or just do it because Robot13 is awesome. Either way...

On Sale Now- Nadir's Zenith

If the world of the new sci-fi comic Nadir's Zenith comes to pass, affordable hyperspace technology spreads human corporate rule across the universe over the next century. But it's all good, 'cause the Intergalactic Peace Corps is putting brothas like Captain John Nadir and his fellow Space Marshals out there to keep the one percenters of the universe in line!

Mike Hawthorne x Jean Grae = WHERE DO I SIGN?!?

Assassins by Mike Hawthorne
Shout out to my dude Mike Hawthorne, whose art appears in this video teasing Jeannie's long-awaited long-player Cake or Death...

Comicbook World #63- Thunder Punch [Your name here]

If you were a fan of Thunderpunch He-man (and you know you WERE), the fine folks at Home Alarms and Personal Security Systems want to put similar power in your hands. That's right, you can now purchase a hand-held weapon that would allow any 100 pound weakling to knock a grown man on his ass with one punch! And it'll cost you less than a family night out at Red Lobster...

PREVIEW- Ross Campbell's debut on GLORY!!!

To say I'm excited by the impending debut of GhettoManga Award-Winning Cartoonist Ross Campbell on Glory would be a huge understatement. I'm a fan of everything he's done to date, so I'm beyond pleased to drop this preview on you!

Start the day off Right w/ Mr(s) Blakes

The ATX-to-LBC transplant known as the mighty Bavu Blakes chose not to rhyme in this video for Wifey, which features his lady in a series of moments he filmed leading up to the birth of their son...

PEEP THIS! "Hip Hop Family Tree" by the mighty @EdPiskor

Bottom line? That dude Ed Piskor is beating the game up right now. If there's any justice to this whole funnybook shit (and I'm not saying there is), son will be rolling in dough before he kicks...

(Karniege + Kenyattah Black) x Thanos = Universal #doTheMath

My dude Elihu dropped this new video Universal by Karniege (f/ Kenyattah Black) on me via the Facebook. The beat is by Thanos, but I don't think he has the Infinity Gems anymore, so it's all good... Download the track courtesy of the artist...

Salem Psalms/Jayforce presents "BEATZ+LYRICS 2 Go Vol 2"

I was invited to do artwork on the new Salem Psalms/Jayforce collabo Beatz + Lyrics 2 Go joint, but unfortunately, I didn't manage to find the time (stop laughing! I'm BUSY dammit!). But that is not a reflection on how ILL it is...  Cause they have their priorities together and stuff, my dudes Flux, Goldi, DTM and lots of other dope drawing machines (shout out to the non-dude Lana Andrade) got down on the singles featuring the likes of Clan Destined, Lex Boogie from the BX, StaHHr, BINKIS Recs, Headkrack, Boog Brown, Arablak, Methuzulah, and more.
Peep some art and listen to it below...

"I am not selling CDs or mp3s. I am selling soul food you can digest with ease..." -@AkilNadir

I'm sure Akil Nadir did not come out of nowhere. I'm sure he was born as a baby, made dumb choices as a teen and grew up like everyone else. But when I heard Word Is Bond, the unbelievably dope single from The Anti Nigger: A Humble Ardor Mixtape... I felt like this cat sprung out of a god's brain fully formed, calling down fire from the sky, speaking my language...

Shout out to @FuseBoxRadio!

The lovely, gracious, and talented Mary Nichols (DJ Fusion if you're nasty) commissioned me a long time ago to make a flyer for the mighty FuseBox Radio Show. In fact, this was my second job for Fusion, who had commissioned me to do that mock Ghostbusters joint which you may remember (if not, click here). This time, I didn't focus as much on the likeness, and I cast them as crime busters instead of Ghostbusters...

Robophobic #20 :Robotic Killer Bees, We on a SWARM!

That buzzing sound you heard, followed by sharp pain like a tiny needle poking into the back of you neck wasn't from those Africanized Killer Bees from Staten Island, but they are on the mother effing swarm nonetheless, so be advised...

Start the Day off Right w/ Venomous2000

I'm not sure when "backpacker" became a dirty word in hip hop circles... Most rappers only use it to tell you that they're not one, as if there's some street cred merit badge earned by distancing oneself from that aspect of underground hip hop culture. Whatever the case, I associate backpack rap with superior lyricism (sometimes for its own sake), and in today's climate, that's change I can believe in. Now that I have finished my semi-relevant lead in, peep the new video Where Ya At (Machinist Remix) by Venomous2000...

D-pi takes a Katana to Romeo & Juliet

The man who brought you Gratuitous Ninja and Sentences (his editor calls him Ron Wimberly) knows what you need, baby... and he's gonna give it to you...
