Luke Cage, Monica Rambeau, Falcon, Blue Marvel and Power Man on one team?

I have been saying for a while that eventually every hero in the Marvel U will be either an X-man or an Avenger (or both). I’m feeling more like a genius every day… But seriously, Marvel is slowly revealing the lineup of their upcoming book MinoriTeam Mighty Avengers, which is due to drop this fall, and I guess this is a good time for me to voice my opinion about it...
There's a lot to like here, and a lot to be concerned about... "Mighty Avengers is launching in the midst of Infinity... " says editor Tom Brevoort of the new book spinning off of Marvel's cosmic summer event "The gist of the opening story is that the Avengers are off in space dealing with the Builders and in their absence, Thanos comes to Earth. A number of other characters rise up and join together to oppose to what’s going on, arraying themselves around Luke Cage."
My understanding is that Cage is the boss of the team, while Monica Rambeau (formerly Captain Marvel, then Photon, now going by Spectrum) will be "field team leader"... I will skip the part where I say I guess that makes Cage the "house team leader" because I am above all that. I was a little disappointed when they took the Captain Marvel moniker away from her, and I HATED the name Photon. Spectrum isn't too bad, I guess. I will come out and say that I do not like the fact that Monica is not rocking the natural anymore, and that any fan art I draw will probably still have it. Maybe I'll take the time to write about it more later. I really like the new costume, though! Rambeau is such a great character, and I'm really hoping they do her justice on this book...
Brevoort went on to say that the creative team behind Mighty Avengers has been cooking this book up since February "around Black History Month and the anniversary of the death of my friend Dwayne McDuffie. So I set out not to do ‘Black Avengers’ but more Dwayne McDuffie Avengers. I wanted to have a minimum of non-white characters but not have that necessarily be the point, then a lot of the characters who fit into what we wanted to do ended up being minorities. It’s not a ‘solution’ to lack of diversity elsewhere, but it’s something we considered.”
Since Brevoort evokes the name of the late great Dwayne McDuffie, here's a clip from White Scripts, Black Supermen because it's always a good time to watch a clip from that movie!

I'm sorry... what was I talking about? Oh yeah, so I have to admit that I am now interested in buying this book. Damn that marketing genius of Tom Brevoort! Damn him to HELLLLLL... (not really)
Anyways, I will post some preview pages once I get them.

  1. My interest is peaked. I like these characters. We'll see if it's any good.
