Here's the sales pitch:
Quantum finally has finally landed his dream job -- on-staff superhero for billion dollar defense contractor Magnum Securities! But when the Midwestern militia compound he's been assigned to infiltrate discovers the true nature of his visit, Eric's very first field mission may just become his last. Can he convince the anti-government secessionists of the Stronghold that he isn't just a socialist commie-pinko government stooge sent to suppress their Second Amendment right to a flamethrower? And can he do it before Woody swoops in for the "rescue" and accidentally sets off a civil uprising?

It would be an understatement to say that I'm not crazy about Ming Doyle's art on Quantum & Woody, but that last page is priceless. There's no way for me to know if it's not just so excellently written that the artist couldn't eff it up, so I will chalk it up to good storytelling chops on Ming's part. At this stage in my reading life, I'd say storytelling is more important to me than drawing style, so we'll see.
Likewise, this variant cover is priceless. Again, if this was Ming's idea... mad props. I would love to get my hands on a high-res version so I can print and do the connect-the-dots puzzle. If I get one, I will make it downloadable for you guys... Anyways, my comicbook purchasing hit a lifetime low in 2013, but from a distance at least, I feel like the newly resurrected Valiant
Quantum & Woody #8 comes out in stores January 8th. Please check it out if you can.
Thanks for reading!
-samax.
Samax Amen draws people, places, and things for fun and profit. Whenever possible, he makes them awesome. He's threatening to bring back his freestyle comic SPONTANEOUS in 2014, but we aren't holding our breath...
Seems dope, thought the last panel was indeed priceless. Maybe the art Ming is doing was "dumbed down" a bit for the overall "time" that the comic is taking place or at least the setting, that's the only reason I can think of. I do however, like the 24 hour concept because it adds a twist that if someone discovers could completely put them in jeopardy. Good write up I may have to check this one out.
ReplyDeleteThat's an excellent theory!
