Finally checked out that new(ish) @BodegaBrovas video Freshest Facade (with extra crooning by the homie @Astronautalis)

"My analysis of life can be a little extreme.
Others think I'm living large, but things ain't what they seem..."

This video for Bodega Brovas' new single The Freshest Facade (off of their upcoming album, LGA: Loaded Guns and Alcohol) came out a month ago, and I saw it but didn't have time to write about it. I could'a just shared it straight on social media, but I really wanted to drop a couple pennies on it, so here you go.  I'm a grown ass man who came up on rap music when there was more substance to it, so anytime rappers drop a little reality on the fans, I fux wit that. It's easy to get swept up in the entertainment value of flossy rap antics, but at some point reality needs to be addressed. I'm never gonna be the guy running over ceedees with bulldozers or calling for boycotts, though. I just want balance. I like to partake in gangster shit, metal teeth, and wobbly booties sometimes, but I think it is good to pull back the curtain. Hip hop is all of those things, but dammit, it's more than JUST that!

Anyways, this video is fun. That part when Travii takes the keys back had me dying. That car salesmen does not Believe in Bodega, son. Keep it movin'... I would have enjoyed more rapping by former Dallas freestyle battle rap kingpin Astronautilis (no, really! Dude is SICK off the dome!)... maybe they can get him to do a phone-in freestyle from Minneapolis for the remix...

Peace,-samax
Samax Amen draws people, places and things for fun and profit. He is the artist of many great comics you never heard of like Herman Heed, Champion of Children, The Brother and The World As You Know It. He even writes and draws his own comics, like Dare: The Adventures of Darius Davidson, Spontaneous, and Manchild when he gets around to it. Because making comics is hard and stuff, he started GhettoManga as a blog in 2006 and as a print magazine in 2008.
