Mike Hawthorne can draw his ass off. Check out what happened when Marvel asked him to draw this Hulk vs Thing cover to Marvel Two in One #3. TRIGGER WARNING for all the Artists in attendance: Even though it hurts, you won't be able to look away...
As anatomically ill, structurally sound, and labor intense as Mike's pencils are, these inks are even sicker. See, a real inker knows how to use the different marks he can make to create worlds on paper. Metal feels like metal. Stone feels like stone. This nigga can capture the temporal wispy quality of fucking smoke, fam! Good stuff... The colors by Nolan Woodard are pretty nifty as well. The color choice is perfect to balance the clash of orange and green from our combatants. I want to give a stern talking to to the designer who put the titles over the onlookers at the bottom, but it actually works because the perspective (and our instinctive knowledge of gravity) draws us down there. Marvel should definitely make a poster of this. Such a nice piece.
Deep breaths, fam. It's gonna be alright. Anyways, I'm a go salvage my self-esteem.
