IN STORES NOW - Black Panther #171

The sales pitch KLAW STANDS SUPREME Part 6! The Black Panther finally confronts Ulysses Klaw face-to-face. Will the king lose his country? But Klaw is not the only monster corrupting Wakanda. The gods are still lost — all save one. The true Originator returns!

The Black Panther is one of those characters whose appeal is amplified by the supporting characters and concepts built around him.  I was only marginally interested in him until the Marvel Knights Black Panther series by Christopher Priest and Mark Texiera showed me how good it felt to be a gangsta king.

That's the first time T'Challa showed up flanked by the Dora Milaje, the King of Wakandas badass female royal guards.  Imagine a cross between Coming to America's Rose Bearers and Arthur's Knights of the Round Table.
Every character in the Marvel Universe that runs afoul of the Adored Ones regrets it if they live long enough, including T'Challa himself.  In recent years, a rift has grown between the warrior women of Wakanda and their king that has made for some interesting comics.

Anyways, BLACK PANTHER #171 is in stores now.
