The Joell Ortiz Banger that inspired this sketch

You may have already heard God Forbid by Joell Ortiz.  It's not a new song, but it is one of my favorite songs I've heard in a minute.  I discovered it on Soundcloud, and it has been in heavy rotation since.

Almost any time I have gotten irritated with anything since I heard this incredibly quotable track in 2017, Joell's growling voice has popped up in my mind.  As I was getting ready for the BLACKBOOK BATTLE last week, this ode to hip hop frustration was lurking in my subconscious.  And once my playlist dropped God Forbid during my pre-fight coffeeshop drawing session, I put it on repeat and this sketch was born.

Y'all know I'm a nerd about this rap shit, so this is the kinda stuff I commonly draw in my Daily Sketches.  CLICK HERE to get 'em in your email.

As for Joell Ortiz, get familiar on iTunes or where ever you like to get dope music.
