Comixology Originals- SUPERFREAKS (p)Review

I knew when Amazon acquired Comixology that they would eventually start publishing original comics, and the first wave of Comixology Originals have arrived.  I checked out SuperFreaks, the story of teen sidekicks who must find their way once the heroes (whom they serve hand and foot) vanish mysteriously.

Anyways, here's the sales pitch:
All the world's superheroes have disappeared overnight, and it's up to their untrained, largely overlooked teenage sidekicks to find out what happened--while dealing with the biggest crisis Earth has ever known--much to the public's displeasure. Can they save the day?

Part of the comiXology Originals line of exclusive digital content only available on comiXology and Kindle.

The first issue of the series was kind of slow, but the premise (which seems conscious of The Incredibles without being beholden to it) and the characters are interesting enough to make me want to keep going.  I especially like Blue Aura, the de facto leader of SuperFreaks' small assemblage of teen heroes.

You can CLICK HERE to binge read SUPERFREAKS 1-5 on Comixology Unlimited  or Kindle right now, but I'm gonna let the issues simmer and post about each one briefly as I go.  A full-faced proper review will come soon after.

Peace,
"some AX"

  1. The premise is similar to Image Comics' DANGER CLUB. I'll have to check this out.
