BLACKGUARD: ASSAULT ON CRITICAL is Coming!

When the first issue of GhettoManga Quarterly was printed way back in 2008, it had an ad on the back cover for a webcomic called BlackGuard, paid for by the Brothers of Spontaneous Combustion also known as the Smith Brothers.

Now the BoSC team is turning their hilariously irreverent story of a Civil Rights Era super hero leading a team of super-villains against the forces of evil into an extremely cool series of cartoon shorts.

BlackGuard works as a parody of books like Thunderbolts and Suicide Squad, as well as a satirical look at the gap between different camps in the black community.

It is a story that exemplifies what we stand for here at GhettoManga, and it has never looked better!

Here's the first animated episode:
BLACKGUARD Episode 01
When a dimwit in an armored ape suit goes King Kong on a major city, the Department Overlooking Ultrahuman Crime and Harmful Endeavors finds itself in a tough spot.  With the professional superheroes on strike, the Departments only choice is to deploy the Blackguard, an experimental team of super-powered inmates, training as heroes.  Under the command of former crime fighter, Eli Mercer; the Blackguard, (Afia Melanin, Darius Doome, Jonny Staples and O.D.A.N.,) are the only ones left to stop this new threat… or potentially make things worse.

Welcome to episode 01 of

Samax Amen is a professional Content Developer, Illustrator and Cartoonist. He is the artist of many great comics you never heard of like Herman Heed, Champion of Children, The Brother and The World As You Know It. He even writes and draws his own comics, like Dare: The Adventures of Darius Davidson, Spontaneous, and Manchild when he gets around to it. Because making comics is hard and stuff, he started GhettoManga as a blog in 2006 and as a print magazine in 2008.
