sometimes I forget not everyone who reads one of my blogs reads them all (I honestly don't blame you...), but I was reminded of that fact when I posted the pencils (and eventually the inks) for the Powerman fanart I'm working on, which almost immediately drew tweets, emails etc. asking when I would do Luke's partner Danny Rand, the immortal Iron Fist. What they didn't know, was that I did one already...
I did this drawing for the short-lived Metrosketchual blog, a group sketch joint with a rotating weekly (then biweekly) theme. When it was my turn to choose, I selected Heroes for Hire, and turned in this piece. At first I was posting my Metrosketchual pieces here as well as over there, but had it suggested to me that I was reducing the effectiveness of the blog by double posting (I didn't agree, but I went with the will of the people). So anyways, to peep more of my metroSketchual joints you may have missed, click here.

Oh, yeah. That's the stuff.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad that Marvel doesn't take unsolicited submissions. A one-shot short, in that style with ink/halftone color would convince them.
I'm serious and not just flattering.. The dynamism of that pose and the exaggerated Bruce Lee-esque physique are just right. Conventions like the use of just halftone color on his mask ties would work well well in the rest of a comic; for backgrounds, say.
Thanks so much! I quit actively trying to get any love from Marvel a long time ago, but there are certainly projects I would like to do for them, and H4H is definitely one of them!
ReplyDeleteTheir track record is to snatch up whoever gets hot from the indie ranks, so maybe I can generate the sort of buzz it would take to get rolling with them.
Time will tell...
I wonder how you get connected with a thing like the Flight anthologies, Out Of Picture or the Anthology Project.
ReplyDeleteThat seems to be the new way to get noticed.
*shrug*
ReplyDeleteI couldn't tell you...
