OH SHNAP! JINNRISE Vol 2 drops this week! (@AndrewHuerta93 is a friggin BEAST!!!)

DAMMIT! I been asleep at the wheel or something, because I haven't spent every minute of everyday raving about Jinnrise, the urban fantasy smash from IDW, and its bad to the mothereffing bone artist Andrew Huerta. Stop looking at me like that and check out these preview pages from Jinnrise Volume 2, tough guy!

Here's the sales pitch:
International student Andrew Marcus’ world is torn asunder when interstellar forces, the “Kibrani,” invade earth. With all hope seemingly lost, humanity’s last chance may be a long-despised and forgotten race: the Jinn (otherwise known as “genies”)! But are they our hope... or greatest fear? In an effort to the defeat the alien Kibrani, Andrew and his ragtag team continue their quest to assemble an army of Jinn (Genies), in preparation to face the full onslaught of the alien hoard, but the key to victory may rest with the decision of a 10-year-old farm boy.

Combining the best of summer blockbuster fare and quest myths like Lord of the Rings, Jinnrise is a modern re-introduction to global myth.

nice!

You pro'lly remember that I was geeking pretty hard when I introduced you to Huerta (and Jinnrise) last year, so the fact that I have not been chewing your ear off talking about him everyday since is a testament to how hard I've been working at my jobs. Judging from this preview, Huerta's graf and nineties revival steez is still going strong! I didn't get Jinnrise Volume 1 yet, but I will see if they have it when I go to the comic shop, since Volume 2 comes out this week! Feel free to put in your two cents if you've read it!

Peace,

Samax Amen draws people, places and things for fun and profit. He is the artist of many great comics you never heard of like Herman Heed, Champion of Children, The Brother and The World As You Know It. He even writes and draws his own comics, like Dare: The Adventures of Darius Davidson, Spontaneous, and Manchild when he gets around to it. Because making comics is hard and stuff, he started GhettoManga as a blog in 2006 and as a print magazine in 2008.
