Looks like Venom #5 Answers a Question We've been asking

When we were talking about the trailer for the upcoming Venom movie, my dude Lateef asked a question that  gets addressed in this preview of Venom #5.

"Why doesn't Venom just make wings and fly?"

We'll come back to that after the preview.  Here's the sales pitch:
An ancient Klyntar has awakened on Earth, and with it, something has stirred in Eddie Brock’s symbiote. And while Venom would never do anything to hurt Eddie or an innocent person, the ancient symbiote has no such qualms…

It's almost as if they heard Lateef's question!

I have heard REALLY good things about this new VENOM series.  It raises my eyebrows any time I hear someone refer to Venom as a crimefighter, but I suppose there's no real reason that Eddie Brock could not reform.  His past crimes would require that he accept outlaw hero status, but he's in good company I guess.

It makes a lot of sense to accentuate the anti-hero interpretation of the character ahead of the movie.  From what I'm hearing (and seeing in this preview), Mayer and Stegman are doing a number on this series.  I am planning on checking it out.  In case you're already reading, VENOM #5 hits stores August 22nd!
