You know how sometimes you have artists who you go crazy for, but you temporarily forget about them until you see some more of their work... at which time you remember and go crazy for them all over again? Maybe it sounds weird, but it perfectly describes my relationship with the work of Sonny Liew (My Faith in Frankie, Wonderland, Sense and Sensibility, Re-Gifters, Liquid City). So I went crazy yesterday when I found out that Image was dropping a collection of his comic Malinky Robot from the venerated FLIGHT anthology. Here's some random pages below that I repatriated from the internets...
start the day off Right w/ C-Rayz Walz
After listening to Montana and Menace build with the mighty C-Rayz Walz on CWR last night, I was in the mood to listen to more rhyming from the Sun-Cycle Emcee, so I went looking and found this on Bandcamp...
CWR interviews Cormega, Jean Grae, C-Rayz Walz & more! #hipHop
Conspiracy Worldwide Radio is back again with another great show. Cormega dials in to speak on his Haiti benefit song I Made a Difference, his upcoming double disc best-of joint Raw Forever, and more. That's cool and all, but I did a serious double take when I heard Jean Grae dropped in bigging up her new DJ Drama mixtape and (of course) teasing her long-awaited studio album Cake or Death. Besides being one of the sickest rhymers you'll find anywhere, she is really deep and the CWR cats delve into some good stuff. Being that I am in middle-school-intensity love with Jean in general, I would tune in just for that... but C-Rayz Walz has been on my mind lately too, so his appearance on my favorite hip hop interview show was right on time! yeah, we're talking close to six hours music, interviews, etc from the my dudes Menace and Montana.

Wishlist - Leviathans
As you no doubt have concluded, I love independent comics. At any given time (even in a good economy) there's way more comics out there that I want to read than I could ever possibly buy! I've started keeping a "Wishlist" of books that I've seen samples from that I want to buy. My main reason is just to give me an excuse to shine light on comics that look freaking awesome... for example, Here's some preview pages from Razor Apple Studios' urban fantasy, Leviathans which introduces Cherry Nine, who has flipped her status as the world's greatest dragon hunter into making her an international reality television star...

Graphic Novel (P)REVIEW- "reMIND Vol 1" by Jason Brubaker
I was in a bad mood the first time I went to the work-in-progress blog for Jason Brubaker's Graphic Novel reMIND, but one of my readers who actually BUYS my magazine insisted that I check it out, so I did (NOTE: buying stuff might just get you on my good side, but I make no promises...). What I found there initially threatened to send my bad mood into full-blown clinical depression!
"Dang Samax..." you may say. "Was it THAT bad?"
No. It was that good...

PREVIEW- Genecy
If you often find yourself choosing between the sword & sorcery section and science fiction space opera joints, you might just be better off buying InVision Comics' new joint Genecy, which they describe as Conan meets Silver Surfer. In the 36 page debut issue, we meet the merciless slavers of the galaxy-spanning Grunnodian Empire, who have scoured the universe for centuries looking for a cosmic artifact that will give them access to limitless, primal energy and strengthen their stranglehold on their numberless subjects. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, a runaway slave Kaizakk seeks to beat them to the punch...

Total Recall 2 (sorta...)
I had no idea that Dynamite Entertainment had scooped up the comicbook rights to the awesome Arnold Scharzenegger film Total Recall, but here you can clearly see they have returned to the chronicles of Douglas Quaid (formerly known as Hauser... watch the movie!), who has saved the people of Mars from that cold-hearted bastard Cohaagen and hooked up with the hot and racially ambiguous Melinda! But there's no time for happily ever after, as this new four issue Total Recall miniseries picks up where the movie left off...

3 Reasons why YOU need to buy Dark Horse Presents #2
I didn't buy the first issue of Dark Horse Presents that featured the debut of new multi-part serials by Neal Adams (his cover art on the left) and Richard Corben (two creators I've loved for decades), and an interview and sneak peak at Frank Miller's prequel comic (soon to be movie) Xerxes... but I still have a few REALLY good reasons why I GOTTA cop #2, and frankly, you should too...

OGN Preview: The Many Adventures of Miranda Mercury: Time Runs Out
I can't remember when I bought The Many Adventures of Miranda Mercury #295, but what I CAN remember is that my first reaction to it was pure jealousy! Brandon Thomas and Lee Ferguson perfectly crafted a sci-fi superhero tale that felt ground-breaking and nostalgic at the same time, starring a who's looks just like my sister Carla, and just happens to be the greatest hero in the universe. Damn. Why didn't I think of that...
Anyways, I never was able to track down #236, but now the whole (?) story is getting collected in a 175 page Hardcover and here's a MASSIVE preview for you!
