This past weekend's events must have me feeling robophobic. The threat of increasing automation came up in two conversations I had on Monday:
First, in my meeting with my accountability partner, Krista. Then again in a conversation with my girlfriend Camisha! While I was talking to Camisha, I doodled this in my Big Black Sketchbook: |
|
I drew this with Crayola markers and lettered it with Photoshop. The font, before you ask, is called Mainframe. You can get it at Blambot.com. This advice was one of my tips for anybody that doesn't wanna get put out of work by robots. You have to shake off the outdated industrial education that taught you that you deserve a living wage for showing up and doing what you're told. As machines have gotten smarter, the market value of obedience and punctuality have fallen hard. Machines can show up and obey better than you or I ever could (or would). I worked for Domino's as a pizza delivery driver for a few years. It was a fun, easy job. Some of my fellow drivers insisted we could never be replaced by robots, but I figured it was only a matter of time... |

Domino's is testing fully autonomous delivery vehicles with robotics company Nuro. The pilot(less) program will launch in Houston for select Domino's customers who order online, according to a press release.

"Domino's — which delivers 3 million pizzas per day globally — has been testing autonomous delivery systems for several years. In Michigan, and later in Miami, the pizza giant teamed up with Ford to create a delivery service using autonomous vehicles. The company's chief rival, Pizza Hut, is also testing driverless delivery with Toyota Motor Co.
The San Francisco-based start-up Udelv has begun making grocery deliveries in the Bay Area and in Oklahoma City. Known for its bright orange vehicles, the company announced this week plans to begin delivering automobile parts to businesses in Houston."

It's a brave, new world. Anyways, the point is not to get panicky and stuff, but to remind you to be smart, and remember what makes you special. If you haven't read it already, CLICK HERE to read the article I wrote on ways to turn your humanity into a superpower that is robot-proof! CLICK HERE to buy products with this sketch on it from my CafePress shop. If you would prefer a signed print, CLICK HERE to email me, and we'll talk it over.

Anything I can help YOU with? |
|
I'm full up on comic book artwork clients for now, but I'm looking to take on one or two more clients for my comic strip service. Drawing comic strips with clients is fun and pretty easy, so I can squeeze in the right client. So if you have an awesome idea for a comic strip, but you need help with it (whether it's writing, drawing, editing, social or email marketing, web copy, Facebook ads), or you just want guidance on next steps for your comic or strip, just CLICK HERE to email me, or click here to hit me on messenger. You can even schedule a free (no pressure) phone or video call here to talk about your project.
On that note, I gotta get back to work, fam. Thanks again for reading!
Peace, -Samax ("some AX") Amen |
