The guys love Larry Stroman's art as much as they hate David's dialogue, which makes for a fun video.
I'm a HUGE Stroman fan, and that all started with X-Factor #71.
Going back to Art Adams' X-Men and Longshot work, all the X-book artists (except Simonson, I'd say) leaned into contemporary fashion as a heavy influence for the costume design. Stroman smashed it better than any of the artists since Adams, and the guys make note of it here. I would suspect that Stroman was influenced a lot by Simonson's career as a whole, but he also folded in heavy fashion illustration influence to his unique style.
I took a fashion illustration course in college, and the fashion department professors LOVED what I was doing. It was heavily influenced by Stroman.
I love that the guys are holding Stroman up as an influence for later artists (like Jae Lee) while also having fun with what is dated in the work.
They manage to stay on topic when Stroman's defection to Image for TRIBE came up, but I'm excited at the prospect of a Comics Kayfabe TRIBE discussion in the future.
Anyways, I loved the David/Stroman run on X-Factor, so this was a fun episode.
peace.
peace.

Samax Amen is a professional Content Developer, Illustrator and Cartoonist. He is the artist of many great comics you never heard of like FREELANCER LIFE, Herman Heed, Champion of Children, and The World As You Know It. He even writes and draws his own comics, like Dare: The Adventures of Darius Davidson, Spontaneous, and Manchild when he gets around to it. Because making comics is hard and stuff, he started GhettoManga as a blog in 2006 and as a print magazine in 2008.
