there are plenty of good comics out there in the love story and autobio genres, but they just generally get no shine. that's why when i saw this 22 page preview to the Oni Press OGN Love Buzz i figured it was my duty to share it with you! here's the sales pitch:

BOOM Luh da Kids!

I got a warm spot in my heart for BOOM! Studios because they are showing mad love for the kids! In addition to the Monsters Inc comic which is already in stores, they're dropping another issue of the Cars: Radiator Springs mini, as well as zero issues of The Muppet Show Comic Book and Toy Story (that are preludes to ongoing series for 2010) in comic shops tomorrow December 9th. and if you've been sleeping on the Incredibles comic, i don't know what to say. point being, if we want more comics for us grown folks to read, we gotta make sure that the kids market keeps growing! for whatever reason, those geniuses at BOOM! are tryin'a take the industry on their backs on this one! so you should probably check out the Champion of Children blog if you wanna get the heads up and peep free previews of comics, movies, etc for the young 'uns.

Henry Gyrich Must be a Republican...

I didn't catch the first issue of S.W.O.R.D. last month, but I'm excited by this new series! Commander Brand and Beast move over from Astonishing X-men as Brand continues to run the Earth's alien defense agency. but now her new Osborne-appointed partner Henry Gyrich has decided that extraterrestrials are no longer welcome on Earth. So say goodbye to Marvel Boy, Beta Ray Bill, Karolina from the Runaways and a ton of others…including Agent Brand and Lockheed! "Snake Eyes Never Gives Up"

I never caught this GI JOE: SNAKE EYES series, which was co-written by Ray Park (who played Snake Eyes in the movie) and Kevin Van Hook, with art by Lee Ferguson. I didn't see the GI JOE movie, but i like the idea of taking something from the movie and expanding on it for comics, if that's what this is. looks cool to me... wish they would'a got that dude Mike Hawthorne to draw this, after the work he did on GI JOE: ORIGINS (as well as his solo work, I think he would'a smashed on this... anyways, peep this joint, and look for it in stores on wednesday the 9th.

holy crap! that dude pete snejberg kicks mad tail drawing BPRD:War on Frogs #4, and if you click the pic, you can spy the fresh artwork he laid down for the John Acurdi-penned miniseries' finale. here's the sales pitch:
