 I became an instant fan of Cartoon Network's Steven Universe when I stumbled onto the KABOOM series of Steven's misadventures as the mostly powerless member of the Crystal Gems superhero squad. STEVEN UNIVERSE is like Snarf or Orko having their own series while the Lion-O, He-man or whoever are off saving the world in the background.  Anyways, I was late to the party, but I'm glad to be here. Wow! I'm LOVING these STEVEN UNIVERSE comics from @BOOMstudios

I don't have cable, so I wasn't prepared for STEVEN UNIVERSE by steady streams of commercials, but it only took a few images for me to fall in love with Steven, the not-yet super powered member of the mighty Crystal Gems superhero quartet. Once I saw these preview pages for the new STEVEN UNIVERSE comics, let's just say I was hooked!

QUICK REVIEW: "Adventuretime with Fiona and Cake" #1 (of 6)

I'm sure there were people out there more excited about the Adventure Time spinoff comic Adventure Time with Fiona and Cake than I was, but I was pretty freaking pumped! BFFs Fiona and Cake are the gender-flipped alterverse versions of Adventure Time stars Finn the Human and Jake the Dog. But the fun doesn't stop there, as Fiona and Cake share this six issue series with gender-bent doppelgangers of all our favorite inhabitants of the world of Oo.

Felipe Smith's dropping a new book at BOOM Studios... sorta

As you might have guessed, we are as pleased as can be to have high-octane cartoonist Felipe Smith (MBQ, Peepo Choo) back in the States after spending the last few years in Japan. In that Meltdown interview I posted a while back, Felipe let slip that he was working on several projects. The first promos have started dropping for Freelancers, the action comedy he co-created with BOOM Studios editor-in-chief Matt Gagnon.
