I've been looking in on Donny Frank for years. I think I first saw his stuff during the mySpace era, then started watching him on Deviant Art. Today, Donny dropped a link on the GhettoManga Facebook page to his new 170 page western comic Chained Gun volume 1 which came out on Amazon.com last month.

I was in a bad mood the first time I went to the  work-in-progress blog for Jason Brubaker's Graphic Novel reMIND, but one of my readers who actually BUYS my magazine insisted that I check it out, so I did (NOTE: buying stuff might just get you on my good side, but I make no promises...). What I found there initially threatened to send my bad mood into full-blown clinical depression!
"Dang Samax..." you may say. "Was it THAT bad?"
No. It was that good...

OGN Preview: The Many Adventures of Miranda Mercury: Time Runs Out

 I can't remember when I bought The Many Adventures of Miranda Mercury #295, but what I CAN remember is that my first reaction to it was pure jealousy! Brandon Thomas and Lee Ferguson perfectly crafted a sci-fi superhero tale that felt ground-breaking and nostalgic at the same time, starring a who's looks just like my sister Carla, and just happens to be the greatest hero in the universe. Damn. Why didn't I think of that...
Anyways, I never was able to track down #236, but now the whole (?) story is getting collected in a 175 page Hardcover and here's a MASSIVE preview for you!

Here's some cover art process work from one of my absolute favorite artists in the world, GhettoManga Award-winning cartoonist Ross Campbell. This piece is for the cover to Shadoweyes in Love, the second volume of his OGN* series about a teenage vigilante turned teenage MUTANT vigilante... no ninjitsu, though. Or turtles... At least not yet. Where was I? Oh Yeah... so peep some more process art and the final cover artwork below. As usual, there will be some random meandering on my part as well...

So when is Type Illy Press's long-awaited graphic novel Southside Nefertiti: Fist of the Southstar coming out? When it's finished. That's another way of saying "I don't know"... but I can't stay mad, 'cause whenever I see the preview art, it's always gorgeous! Series creator, publisher and writer Mike Sales dropped a link with some new pages on my Facebook wall, so I'm happy to pass the love on to you!

Looks like Jake Parker is finished with the second book in the Missile Mouse OGN series Rescue on Tankium 3.

Felipe Smith returns to America! sorta...

I have lots of new readers who may have never heard of Felipe Smith, the brilliant cartoonist behind MBQ, one of my favorite graphic novels, and his new manga PEEPO CHOO that he's been working on since he relocated to Tokyo in 2008. Adding to the avalanche of dope comics hitting the planet this summer, the English language version of Peepo Choo drops next month, and Felipe recently told me he would be at San Diego Comicon promoting it.

PREVIEW! Shadow Eyes by Ross Campbell

this summer will be a freaking minefield of dope comics! One of the ones I'm drooling over is Shadoweyes, the new superhero-monster comic by Ross Campbell (Wet Moon, Mountain Girl, Water Baby). The 204 page debut volume is due out in July from SLG, but I came upon another preview on CBR yesterday, so I posted the pages below.
