The new issue is finally ready to go to the printer! This issue will include never-before-printed comics from Josh Boulet (The Wrong Night in Texas, The Green Reefer) and Brock Rizy (Emily Edison, Catbear Traffic Control) PLUS an 8 page preview of Felipe Smith's ground-breaking culture clash manga Peepo Choo (printed in the back of the issue, so's you can read it right-to-left like he intended, of course). Oh yeah, and the triumphant return of my comic MANCHILD: Birthday Boy,because I gives the people what they want...

Make Comics! You could save a life...

My wife's evil preteen sister is in town  for her yearly visit, this time for a whole month. So, as you might imagine (especially if you knew her), I'm in the mood to draw some violence against a child! Luckily for me (and her), I'm still finishing up chapter 2 of MANCHILD: Birthday Boy for the summer issue of GhettoManga Quarterly.

I Probably shouldn't Show you this yet, but...

I can't HELP myself! People would probably buy my magazines and comics more if I didn't show them so much of it free on the internet, but I figure, if the knowledge that you can get never-before-printed comics from Josh Boulet (The Wrong Night in Texas, The Green Reefer) and Brock Rizy (Emily Edison, Catbear Traffic Control) PLUS an 8 page preview of Felipe Smith's ground-breaking culture clash manga Peepo Choo (printed in the back of the issue, so's you can read it right-to-left like he intended, of course) doesn't get you to buy the summer issue of GhettoManga Quarterly, then letting you peek at this page of Manchild: Birthday Boy I finished yesterday won't make much difference, either!

They told him to Act his Age...

When i have trouble sleeping, i just sit down at my drawing board or computer and work instead. last night i colored this Manchild joint, which will probably serve as the cover to Manchild:Birthday Boy when it's eventually collected in graphic novel. if you're new around here, you pro'lly didn't already know that Manchild is the ultraviolent sci-fi tale of the world's illest 3-year-old killing machine... so now you know. anyways, i'm thinking about launching a Manchild webcomic in 2010... whatever the case, i just had this piece laying around and decided to color it. for those who can't wait 'till 2010, I'll include this drawing (along with more Manchild goodies) in my book Spontaneous:2009, which will drop in late December. Chapter 1 of Birthday Boy debuted in the first issue of ghettoManga Quarterly, which you can cop here for $10.

listen to the way i SLAY....

my man Cal Slayton drew this fresh image of everyone's favorite gunclapping 3 year old, from my comic Manchild. He hooked it up as an art trade in exchange for a drawing i'm doing for his comic Spookytown... in typical Cal fashion, he banged out his end of the bargain before i got to mine. but i'm gonna see him at the Dallas Comicon next month, so i'll have his ready by then!

because YOU demanded it...

well, maybe not YOU, personally... but one of my friends on mySpace has been nagging me to hook up this Manchild:Birthday Boy promo piece as a tee-shirt so he can rock it. so, you know i can't resist the will of the people and stuff, so here it is! if you have no idea what Manchild is about, you obviously didn't buy the first issue of ghettoManga Quarterly (**cough** still on sale **cough), where i gave Birthday Boy chapter 1 it's magnificent full-color debut.
anyways, click the Manchild tag below for more info about the world's illest gun-toting toddler!
peace!

gM Quarterly soon come...

what up Fam... i'm puttin' together the comics section of ghettoManga Quarterly, and i gotta tell you, it's gonna be freakin' sweet! if you've been checking in regularly, you already seen some preliminary color artwork on Manchild: Birthday Boy, my very first color comic. i'm focused on that right now, which has slowed down my blogging, but don't worry! the gM blog feeds the gM magazine, so it'll remain a Top priority! anyways, stay tuned for updates, and be sure to cop that gM Quarterly Summer issue when it drops!

Manchild is coming...

Manchild: Birthday Boy, page 3. written, drawn, lettered, and colored by me. from ghettoManga Quarterly, coming soon!

My Comics...

aaaalllrightythen!

i will be using this blog to post news on happenings about my assorted comics projects (did i mention i also make the darn things?) as well... that way, i don't hafta update my website in the middle of a project, but i also don't hafta keep my peeps in the dark about what i'm doin'...

for those unfamiliar with my work, here's the short list of what's in the works:
Dare! the Adventures of Darius Davidson

Dare is my "baby"... it's an action adventure comic that takes place in a world much like ours, BUT with superheroes, monsters, mad scientists, and other assorted dangerous junk like that...

Darius is not a superhero per se (at least not yet!)... he has no powers, special training, or high-tech doodads. still, he may be the greatest hero the world has ever seen!!!
anyways you can get caught up here, and expect more updates as news pops up, as i have BIG plans for the little man with the big hair...

Manchild: Birthday Boy
Manchild:Birthday Boy is the first in a short series of graphic novels i plan to do. Inspired by my fascination with manga, hip hop and social issues, i can honestly say that by the time this series of books is done, it will be the most violent, disturbing and mind-bending thing i have ever done. that said, it's gonna take a while... you'll be kept up to date on its progress for now, go here to read what i got so far...

Champion of Children

Champ is the result of the most satisfying collaboration of my young comics carreer. as part of ghostWerks comics, i got to contribute to what will surely be a houshold name, in Champion of Children, a comic about kid superheroes. Champ stars Little Madd Skillz, the latest kid hero to hold the proud title of Champion of Children (the hero all other young heroes defer to...). Maddy (she hates being called that, but i do anyways!) is 5 years old, and using the venerable Pure Skillz technique of martial arts, fights evil like nobody's bidness!

the book also features her friends and family, almost all of whom are heroes themselves (she's seen above with her big brother, former Champion Junior Raw), in a comic as much about family, friendship and growth spurts as it is about hellacious butt-kicking!

it's a book for kids, but so far, we have as many adult fans as kids! for the low, peep what we got so far at the (still under construction) website www.ChampionOfChildren.com, and confidentially, my man Corance has handed me a script for new Champ mini, Secret Scrolls, that is bananas!!!

stay tuned...
