Here's what we want - post a picture on our Flickr group of an Afrodisiac art thing...you pick the medium...you pick the everything. All mediums of art; whether it be painting, graphic art, sculpting, drawing, sketching, fake ads, short strips, or gluing an afro on a Ken doll. All categories are welcome, as are entrants from all countries....whatever...go nuts. If you don't have a Flickr account, send us the picture...or the art thing...and we'll post it for you.

Amazon.com puts up $5,000 in "Comic Strip Superstar Contest"

Comic strip artists need to get their A game together!!! Andrews McMeel Publishing and Amazon.com are hosting a new Contest to find the next Comic Strip Superstar. if you make the cut past the first three rounds, you'll be one of the 10 finalists who will be voted on by Amazon.com customers! the winner will receive a $5,000 advance plus a monthly stipend (i.e. more money) for the development of 20 comic strips that will be considered for syndication.

Each entry should be original, unpublished work in a .jpg file consisting of:
1. 10 daily comic strips
2. 2 Sunday comics
3. A title
4. A brief synopsis

my boy Jamar Nicholas (Detective Boogaloo, Jamar Chronicles, Asteroid Girl) knew all about MF DOOM before i ever heard of 'im. an' even though the number one Illyphunksta's too busy working on the graphic novel adaptation to Fist Stick Knife Gun and just generally being awesome to enter the contest, he emailed me this vintage DOOM piece he drew circa '03. he said it wasn't for the MF DOOM ART CONTEST, but i entered it anyways, (like my middle school art teacher Mr. Gomez would have) 'cause i got it like that! everybody working on somethin' be advised...

as if drawing a nice pic of the villain wasn't it's own reward, The top 5 vote getters will be featured in the magazine AND receive a FREE copy so's they can brag to their people about being published in the ILLEST rag anywhere! out of those five, i'll pick the best one and break them off $100 cash and put their piece on the COVER!
