I have been saying for a while that eventually every hero in the Marvel U
will be either an X-man or an Avenger (or both). I’m feeling more like a
genius every day… But seriously, Marvel is slowly revealing the lineup of their upcoming book MinoriTeam Mighty Avengers, which is due to drop this fall, and I guess this is a good time for me to voice my opinion about it...

IN STORES NOW- Static Shock #2
I think it's fair to say I was a huge fan of the original Static
comic Milestone put out back in the day, not so much the Static Shock cartoon series. The jury is still out on this new 52 Static Shock reboot by Scott McDaniel (Nightwing), but I will keep an open mind until I get to read it. Oh wait, here's a preview! Let's check it out...

another Hardware joint
whaddup! Here's another drawing of Hardware. I did this one as a warm up while I was getting ready for a session of drawing in Photoshop. It's not as detailed as the other one I drew a couple months ago, because I set a time limit of one hour to work on it. I will probably go back and put more doodads and gadgets in it later (Hardware is ALL about doodads and gadgets!), but I'm pretty pleased with it as is.

new BLOOD SYNDICATE pin up by Ross Campbell
America Eats Its Young by Ross Campbell.
what's good, party people! here's a new Blood Syndicate pin up by ghettoManga Award-winning cartoonist Ross Campbell (Wet Moon, Water Baby, Mountain Girl, Shadow Eyes). Ross drew this for Milestone Forever, the book I told y'all about that will integrate the Milestone characters into the mainstream DCU. Ross is one of those guys I believe is on the brink. I thought DC's Minx Imprint was perfect for his girl-centric stories, but he only got to do one OGN (Water Baby) for them before they folded. I figure he will land a Vertigo book in 2010 easy, but I would definitely love to see him drawing a book like Blood Syndicate too...

Another Milestone in my career...
I've been doing fan art and commissions since 2001 when i started self-publishing as 1/5th of the mighty GhostWerks crew, but I had never been asked to draw any of the Milestone characters until this Holla Day commission sale, when one of my customers tapped me for this drawing of Hardware, Milestone's flagship character. I just tried to have fun with it. I'm at a point right now where i really enjoy drawing in photoshop... and when people pay me to do it, i like it even better! hope you guys enjoy the the drawing!peace,

Milestone Returning in 2010

looks like DC is finally getting the ball rolling on the long-awaited return of the multicultural Milestone Universe characters. they'll be wrapping up the dangling Milestone U storylines in the unfortunately titled book Milestone Forever in preparation for the incorporation of the milestone characters into the regular DC universe. here's what i read on Dwayne McDuffie's facebook :
Milestone Forever gathers the original artists from Milestone’s launch titles: John Paul Leon, Mark Bright, Chris Cross and Milestone Founder Denys Cowan, to complete the tales told in the original runs of STATIC SHOCK, ICON, HARDWARE, SHADOW CABINET and BLOOD SYNDICATE. Milestone Editor in Chief Dwayne McDuffie reveals the final fate of each of Milestone’s launch characters in a bittersweet tale that chronicles the literal end of a universe, and the birth of something new, with major consequences for the future of the DC Universe.
it will be dope to see my favorite Milestone artists, JP Leon, Chris Cross, Denys Cowan and the rest repping these characters (Shadow Cabinet was my JOINT! but ya'll don't hear me...)

Required Reading...
DC Comics is bringing the Milestone Characters into their mainstream universe (i reserve judgement on that until i read some books), and to set the table, they are reprinting some of the original Milestone books in Trade Paperback format! the first horse out the gate is Dwayne McDuffie, John Paul Leon, and Robert Washington III's Static Shock: Rebirth of the Cool. i have no problem recommending Static, one of the best comics of it's time... you definitely need to cop this! Rebirth of the Cool drops today in stores everywhere.holla!

Today's Black Superhero: Static
guest post by Wallrus
There is probably no teenage Black superhero with more universal appeal than Static
. He's got brains, versatile abilities, a big heart, and a major sense of duty. It's no wonder he was the only superhero from Milestone comics that made it to TV albeit in a different form.
Unlike in the Static Shock animated TV series, the original Static had short hair, wore a Malcolm X hat as part of his uniform and it was his Mother he was left with; not his father. Static's abilities were electromagnetic in nature enabling him to mentally manipulate multiple forms of electricity and magnetism. He flew by levitating a manhole cover while standing on it.

Static's abilities were electromagnetic in nature enabling him to mentally manipulate multiple forms of electricity and magnetism. He flew by levitating a manhole cover while standing on it. While Static is an original character you could see traits in him that showed up in great heroes of the past. He had an intellect, wit, and sense of duty like Spider-Man. He was able to see the good in people and the overwhelmingly positive effect of his parents was not unlike that of Superman. Like Black Panther, he was a positive role model and exhibited much of the greatness that Black people can and do achieve in their real non-super lives. Look for him in the pages of DC Comics' Teen Titans as this character joins the mainstream comic universe and hopefully, once again, in his own comic.
