MXGA: Make the X-Men Great Again 😂

This old fan letter from the Claremont and Cockrum days of the Uncanny X-Men feels right at home in 2019, don't it?

THROWBACK THURSDAY: GIANT-SIZE X-MEN #1

I ran across this audio dramatization of Giant-Size X-Men #1 today while I was writing my Daily Sketch email, and I just HAD to share:

Persephone- a dope new Wolverine villain, designed by that dude Mike Hawthorne

Return of Wolverine writer Charles Soule shared these Mike Hawthorne character concept drawings on Twitter today, and I just HAD to share them with you!

Is Misty Knight gonna show skills in WEAPON LOST? We shall see...

Misty Knight is on this awesome cover of Hunt for Wolverine: Weapon Lost #1, so I went ahead and posted this preview.  Misty isn't in the preview below, but based on the sales pitch, I'm hoping she has an important role in the series.

PREVIEW- Astonishing X-men by Charles Soule and Jim Cheung

I can't say I even know what's going on with the X-Men these days.  But I'm a big fan of Jim Cheung's art, Old Man Logan, Bishop wearing cornrows, and Warren Worthington as winged Death... So here's some preview pages and variant covers from the new Astonishing X-Men #1...

You had me at "World War Wendigo"... OR... PREVIEW- Amazing X-MEN #11

Because you are not a recovering Marvel Zombie like me, you might not know that the Wendigo is a mystical cannibalistic spirit that possesses people and transforms them into super-strong rampaging white wookies. But only in Canada, because it's magic. CANADIAN magic, son! Anyways, one Wendigo can give the Hulk a good slapping around, so you don't want none of the Wendigo blitzkrieg they are dealing with in Amazing X-men #11, which is part 4 of the 5 part World War Wendigo storyline (so you consider yourself alerted to the spoilers in this preview)...

Wolverine vs The Black Panther. FIGHT!

Three of my favorite Marvel Universe characters (Storm, Wolverine and T'challa the Black Panther) are on the cover of Wolverine #8 (I guess this is the New 52 Wolverine or something... I haven't been paying attention), and it features the mighty Alan Davis/Mark Farmer amalgam on the art. I'm still not gonna buy it, but thanks for trying Marvel!

Comicbook World #66 - Cougar's son goes Wolverine on roommate!

In comics, a hero's greatest enemy is often a friend gone bad. From the looks of it, life is imitating art again in Vernal, Utah where 19 year old Kristofer Ryan Huff allegedly attacked his roommate with Wolverine claws for giving his moms the ole fastball special...

#begBorrowSteal- "Ultimate X: Origins" by Jeph Loeb & Art Adams

Guest post by Michael Lagocki
The Ultimate X: Origins graphic novel is a must buy for superhero fans. I’ll try to quickly (har) break down why and then leave the rest to your good senses.

Avengers VS Wolverine VS X-men? #screamPhoenix

When I started reading comics, Jean Grey was already dead, a casualty of The Dark Phoenix Saga, probably the greatest X-men story ever. Professor X was headmaster of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Wolverine was the X-men's resident hothead. These days, Jean is dead (again) and Wolverine is headmaster of the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, as well as being on the Avengers. Now, the Phoenix is back, and the Avengers are knocking on Wolverine's door on some "Who you WIT'?" type isht...

PREVIEW: Astonishing X-Men #36 by Daniel Way and Jason Pearson

Let's face it, Jason Pearson on X-Men is reason enough to do a double-take, but this wrap around cover is poster material...

PREVIEW: Klaws of the Panther #2

Here's a preview of Shuri the Black Panther fighting against Klaw, the Master of Sound. In addition to guest appearances from Ka-Zar and Shanna the She-devil, looks like Marvel's busiest mutant will poke his head (and claws) into issue #2 of Klaws of the Panther as well...

Puh-puh-puh-puh-puh POWER(man)!

Okay, maybe it's just me, but this whole New Avengers preview had me cracking up because it reminds me of the Old Spice Bodywash commercials with Terry Crews (Idiocracy, Balls of Fury, Everybody Hates Chris, Are We There Yet, The Expendables) kicking buildings, flexing his pecs and hollering for comedic value. Sometimes they make me laugh and sometimes I'm offended by them... just depends on the mood I'm in. Anyways, peep the preview (and one of the Old Spice commercials) below

I Finally Watched the "Hulk Vs" Joint...

I watched the Hulk Vs joint at my man Khalid's crib. For some reason, I wasn't all that interested in watching it when it came out last year (despite all the fanfare), but blessed with a few hours to burn yesterday, I decided to give the jolly green giant a spin, once Khalid mentioned that he had this on tap...

THIS JUST IN!

submitted by ghettoManga correspondent Michael Lagocki
Dear GhettoManga readers,
Killer issues alert. Marvels trying to sneak a few gems by you.
They hid them in Annuals of books you're probably not reading.

Dark Avengers Annual #1
by Brian Michael Bendis and Chris Bachalo.
(this one rocks- Noh Var with brilliant Bachallo art- even for Bachallo fans, this one's off the chain. Some of his very best work. whooooo- bring on the new Captain Marvel)

and

X Force Annual #1
(X Force Annual? Really?) Yes. This mug is written by Robert Kirkman (Invincible) and drawn by... (wait for it)... Body Bags maestro Jason Pearson!!! Since Pearson only draws a full story between ice ages, you might not want to miss this gem. It's a Wolverine one shot- gritty and grimy.
(click the pics for a free preview)

Both came out this week and are on your local comic shop shelves now (but may not be for long, cause each is better than they should be and retailers probably under-ordered)

That's all.
You may now return to your regularly scheduled whatever.
And remember- friends don't let friends miss good comics.
word.

that dude Jason Pearson has a story in this year's X-Force annual starring Wolverine. you can click the pic to read a free preview courtesy of the fine folks at Newsarama. here's the Sales Pitch:
Wolverine is sent into the heart of a Hydra base alone. His mission: like a needle in a haystack, he's tasked with bringing in one specific Hydra agent. But why? And what does this mission have to do with the dwindling mutant population and X-Force?

yeah, don't ask... i haven't read an X-Men book in a minute... but this has Pearson art, so i figured you'd wanna know.
holla!
