The two man emcee-deeJay team of Manchild and Dust, known collectively as Mars ILL, is right up there with my favorite rap crews of all time. From what I can tell, they dropped the 15 track jewel Pirate Radio after their sophomore studio album Backbreakanomics and before their third Pro Pain. In 2009, I ran across the title track to Pirate Radio on YouTube, but couldn't find the record anywhere... until now!

good morning! Here's a little youTube heat to enrich the day, be it a day off or working day for you... That dude Sev Statik got at me a few years ago to do the cover art for the collabo album Back To Dust he did with DJ Dust of Mars ILL (they're also fammo from the supergroup Deep Space 5), but ultimately did not like what I turned out. No hard feelings from me, though (i'm not that kinda dude), so check out the video they did for the title track.

happy Sonday, fammo! here's Street Credibility, the first song I ever heard by Manchild and Dust, known collectively as Mars ILL. This was on Full Plates, a mixtape by DJ Maj that came out back in 2000 (maybe 2001). Full Plates was a decent mixtape, with several nice Christian rap acts on it, but Mars ILL blew my mind! people that know me can confirm for you that I believe the deejay is the backbone of hip hop, and that a good deejay should put you on to all the stuff you don't have time to find for yourself. Maj gets HUGE props for introducing me to my favorite emcee-deejay duo, the mighty Mars ILL.

in case you didn't know, Mars ILL is also an integral part of the supergroup DeepSpace 5. peep the new DS5 joint here...

Breathe Slow by Mars ILL w/JAX (RIP)
good morning party people! just figured i'd bless you with some quality hip hop once again. one of my absolute favorite hip hop crews -the "he's the deejay, i'm the rapper" combination of Manchild and Dust known together as Mars ILL- dropped this jewel a few years ago, but Breathe Slow off their sophomore LP Backbreakanomics never gets old. it's an anthem for the downtrodden and underappreciated that'll remind you to "take what's meant for you, no longer survive on what's passed down... win or lose you'll live your life knowing you never backed down." if those ain't words to live by, i don't know any...

In the Pipeline...

okay, so i've been outta pocket for a couple days, but now i'm back!

i'm currently working on a ceedee cover art for Beat Rabbi (austin resident, for the record...) of my favorite underground hip hop supergroup Deepspace 5 (which has more than five members, but i'm not EVEN about to get into that...).

the inter-state crew includes three of my top ten emcees, dallas's own Sivion and Playdough (as well as his partner-in-rhyme Freddie Bruno) of Phoenetic Composition, Mars Ill (from atl), along with a host of other bonafide rap cats from parts north, east and west...

as a welcome side-effect to the assignment i got pre-mix copies of the songsfor the new joint (entitled Deepspace 5oul)... pretty freakin' fresh i must say! as he is paying me for the assignment (a rarity for undergrounders), i will not put any unauthorized cuts on here... however, as soon as the label clears it, i will post some songs here! for now, go to the ds5 website and sample their junk...
