Underground hip hop duo Mars ILL drops new single!

Yesterday, one of my favorite rap acts of all time that you probably never heard of (the "he's the deejay, I'm the rapper" duo MARS ILL) dropped their first new track in 16 years!

#NowPlaying KRUM + TH3ORY HAZIT + EVIDENCE (on the track) = MUDDY SQUIRREL EP

Krum and Theory Hazit dropped a new name-yo-price EP on Cyber Monday in my email yesterday, so I'm sharing it with you now, cuz that's how I roll.

NEW INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM- SOUL EVER LIFT by M.Slago #MusicToDrawTo

Had a weird day today... but I got some new instrumentals from the homie M.Slago in my email.  So it was a good day!

Apollo Brown + Joell Ortiz dropping a collabo album? Where do I sign?!?

Detroit is a hornets nest of dope producers, and Apollo Brown is one of the best.  Also, everyone knows I fux with Brooklyn-based Slaughterhouse alum Joell Ortiz.  The duo has come together to drop a new 11-track album called MONA LISA, which is due out this fall.  Stream the first single Decisions below...

COP this FREE track LEMME FIND OUT by THE PERCEPTIONISTS

2017 marked the triumphant return of Boston-based microphone masters The Perceptionists (separately Akrobatik and Mr. Lif), and their summer is heating up with the impending release of Low Resolution: The Paten Locke Remixes.  Here's a free single Lemme Find Out for an appetizer

New (to me) Rah Digga album?!?

Rah Digga recorded a gang of songs for an album that never came out in the early ots called Everything is a Story, with features and production by all kinds of all-stars. You already know I LOVE me some Rah Digga, so let's not stand on ceremony and just get into it...

Lando Chill releases lead single for upcoming album "The Boy Who Spoke to the Wind"

If you've been paying attention, you know I fux wit indie hip hop label Mello Music Group.  So when they dropped Lando Chill's new single Break Them Shackles in my inbox, I had to at least give it a spin...

Peep the new MADVILLAIN track and figure, AVALANCHE!

You swear you stay fresh, but you ain't even know about that new MADVILLAIN figure did you? The one that comes with the 7" vinyl release of MF DOOM and MADLIB'S single AVALANCHE? Oh, you did? I guess I was the only one who didn't know...

#DownloadThis - SOUL OF THE CITY II by Shyne On Me

Right when I'm thinking social media has nothing to offer me, I got sucked in by the cover art to SOUL Of The CITY II on Twitter. This album by Shyne on Me, a D.C. area rhymer I never heard of before, may have single-handedly saved the internets from the blazing fires of my indifference...

"I ain't stressin' no depression. I'ma learn to rejoice. The world is overcome already, I'm just usin' my voice..." -Krum

Currently at the library bumping that Bare Knuckle Gospel, a fine example of Dallas hip hop from Krum (the artist formerly known as Playdough) and the mighty deejay Rob Viktum, in my headphones.  I'm listening to it for the first time right now, and really enjoying it.  I'm not sure when I will have time to properly review it, so here you go:

#np "NEW YORK RAP" by DLP f/ Napoleon Da Legend, Fred the Godson, Dro Pesci

"Fuck pursuit of happiness;
we pursuing the next dollar."
-Napoleon Da Legend
 * Napoleon always brings you that knowledge:
The 'founding fathers' knew 'the pursuit of happiness' was flimsy, so the Constitution verbiage dropped it in favor of "Life, Liberty, and Property". Anyways...

Start the day off right with Bavu Blakes and Element7D (collectively known as World Trade)

I've found that if you face who you are
The hustle's that much simpler to do
The possibilities are to the stars
Despite what they done told you
Baby you can show, oooooo...
(do it, do it)

Random Rap Shit- "Best in Show" by P.CASSO, @VonPea & @HomeboySandman, PLUS a super sick cypher!

I never heard of this dude P.CASSO, but the word nerd flow made me do a double take while I was drawing, so I figured I'd share this video for Best in Show (f/Von Pea and Homeboy Sandman)...

"Plot thickens: Only @IronHelmet when the mask's on. Slim Pickens' spittin's finger-lickin'..."

In past decades, artists like Wu-tang, MF DOOM and Can Ox opened a pandora's box to a whole world of cats who channel the energy of the streets through hip hop, cartoons, comics and cult movies. GhettoManga is here largely to chronicle the fallout from that explosion, since mainstream outlets have lost interest. Slim Pickens aka Iron Helmet perfectly exemplifies that strain of underground hip hop anti-heroism. Peep...

HOLY CRAP! This new Playdough joint "Saint Dangle" is my SHEET!

"Preparing tables in the sight of my enemy
Dallas making dead presidents, word to John F Kennedy."
-Playdough

"Time to take action. Now not later. Some cops be on some terrorist shit like Al Queda..." @Headkrack

Tired of hearing about a new incident of rogue cops choking/beating/shooting brothers to death everyday? Who isn't? Headkrack is, if this new joint Track Me Down is any indication...

#nowPlaying "Running on Empty" by @SuperAnkoma

"See, the truth is
some of y'all claiming that ya ruthless
forgot about the art of making music."
-Ankoma
