Start the Day off Right w/Aesop Rock
I never got around to buying Aesop Rock's 2007 album None Shall Pass
, but I need to get it... I spent some time pouring through some youTubery from the record, and it's all good stuff. Case in point, peep this video for Pigs which also features Aesop's album cover artist Jeremy Fish painting a SWEET mural... and because I am a man of and for the people, I threw in the official video for the title track too...

Chewed Up by Felt (Slug, Murs and Aesop Rock)
"So FLY, should'a been in Starfleet!"
Felt 3 is Coming
an inside look at Felt (Slug+Murs+Aesop Rock) and their upcoming plate Felt 3:A Tribute to Rosie Perez. I'm sure i'm not the only one sweating the return of Felt, the TRUE concept record/collabo series where Slug and Murs mind-meld with a different beatsmith (this time it's Def Juxster Aesop Rock) to pay homage to a fly slimmie we all know and love (past records threw down in honor of Lisa Bonet and Christina Ricci), this time tipping the hat to Rosie Perez. I'm still not sure if they will have Jim Mahfood do the comicbook adaptation of the album like they did with Felt 2, but i got my fingers crossed! Felt 3 drops November 17th.

We're Famous by Aesop Rock f/El-Productoyo... up late drawing again. despite serious caffeination, i was having trouble getting going tonight until the rotation hit We're Famous off'a Aesop Rock's brilliant underground opus Bazooka Tooth, at which time it was off to the races! this is my shit, mostly for the autobiographical first verse by Def Jux founder El-P. 'Sop and El are mostly beefing with L7, Eso or some other dudes in their crew... but that's not why i like this song. this joint has two gritty emcees who pretty much cut a path in the underground and mastered the art of being obscure and famous at the same time. on this song, they revel in it, and diss cats just for the fun of it, over a beat that's old school and futuristic at the same time! i remember bumping this a few years ago when i was dating this chick from houston, who could not understand why i was geeking over these two white dudes from new york! she was listening to David Banner and Li'l Flip at the time, so i understood why she didn't get it, but for a cat like me who's been working hard at being an overnight underground success for ten years, this joint hit me right in the chest!
well, i gotta get back to work...
easy.
