I just watched the trailer for the film adaptation of the ghettoManga Award-winning OGN series Scott Pilgrim over on CBR. Scott Pilgrim single-handedly justifies Canada's existence. this movie better rock, or the state of Michigan's gonna conquer Canada and hand it over to Sarah Palin.

Props to Campbell for smashing these mock comics covers depicting Sarah Palin as Blunder Woman in the new issue of Mad Magazine. of all the things in life that were both depressing and hilarious at the same time in recent years, Palin's ongoing political career takes top honors. I will not question Mad for only listing the reigning WTF Queen of Politics at #18 of their 20 Stupidest People of the Year list because i'm SURE she must have been higher up last year!

if you got that Michelle Obama comicbook, you got me beat! i saw this in my daily blog feeds... and when i called my comic shop they didn't have it. but they still have it over at TFAW.com. just click the pic and search "Michelle Obama".... it was part of a series called Female Force. there's issues featuring Hillary, Palin and Caroline Kennedy too... but ya'll got it. i just want that Michelle Obama joint!

Esquire's Endorsement more anti-McCain than pro-Obama

For the first time in its history, Esquire magazine is endorsing a presidential candidate... sorta. Like former President Bill Clinton, the editors at Esquire found it much more difficult to praise Obama than to trash McCain. now that i think about it, i think they really only had a problem with "Presidential Nominee" McCain, not so much with "Senator" McCain.

here's a few of Esquire's anti-McCain comments:
*"That McCain is now attempting to seize the mantle of 'change' for himself is profoundly absurd. And that he expects the American people to swallow it is profoundly insulting."
*"there is no serious debate to be had over Sarah Palin's preparedness to be president of the United States. Because in fact, she is stunningly unqualified...her selection is the clearest indication yet of the contempt that Senator McCain now feels for the process of governance."
*"nothing John McCain has done or said in this campaign would lead you to believe that anything the incumbent administration has done is wrong -- just badly executed -- and he's saying that now only because public opinion has turned so radically against Bushism and all its works. And the ultimate price of his capitulation is to continue Bushism, in all of its manifestations..."

like the Clintons, Esquire hedges their bets by being sheepish in their support of Obama, insisting that he must be the next President simply because he is the only remaining option that leads away from the disastrous policies of the Bush administration, which "must be ripped out, root and branch, everywhere it has been established, or else the presidential election of 2008 is a worthless exercise in futility. Barack Obama may not be the man to do it, but John McCain, for all his laudable qualities, clearly is neither willing nor able to do so..." and that restoring America to its roots "is the task for the next president. That is the main reason to vote for Barack Obama of Illinois. We strongly encourage you to do so."

Does Governor Palin have America drinking the GOP Kool-Aid?

everywhere i look, people are talkin' about how smart it was for crotchety old fuddy-duddy John McCain to tap neophyte Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin as the Republican Vice Presidential candidate to give his campaign some youth and star power. Plus, Barack Obama had a helluva time putting away Hillary Clinton, and analysts argue that a big chunk of Hil's female voters really want to support a woman (so as to put more "cracks in the glass ceiling") badly enough that they'd be willing to ignore McCain's policies long enough to cast a vote for Palin for Veep.while i'm happy to concede that this was an answer to the "Rock Star" status of Barack Obama (according to fine folks at AP, 40 million viewers tuned in to hear Palin's speech at the convention Wednesday night), i doubt that this will turn out to be the stroke of genius analysts are making it out to be. in fact, i would go so far as to say that it won't mean much in raw votes. sure, if the election was held today, Palin's surprise addition to the GOP ticket would help a ton. but a lot can happen between now and November... a poor showing at the Veep debate or a possible background scandal, leaked at just the right time, and Palin could actually HURT McBush... er um McCain's chances at the Oval Office. the selection of Palin, after working hard to make experience an important bullet point in McCain's campaign, is an example of another half-assed strategy that talks down to the public, who largely fall for it. but we will see how long it'll be till it backfires...
