According to the fine folks at Publisher's Weekly, that dude Jamar Nicholas (Detective Boogaloo, Fist Stick Knife Gun, LEON: Protector of the Playground) has landed a 3 book deal for his kid hero Leon!

Philly-based cartoonist Jamar Nicholas was surprised to find that his new long-awaited graphic novel LEON: Protector of the Playground won the Dwayne McDuffie Award for Diversity last week at Long Beach Comic Expo.  While he was not able to attend the ceremony, he did release this brief acceptance video afterward.

Everyone has been fantasizing about what they would do if they won the Powerball, which was over a billion dollars until a handful of people won it last week. Of course, I would put money into perfecting my self-publishing machine, but I would also devote a good portion of it to invest in comic book artists who create comics I want to read, but that I probably won't get to read because artists either have day jobs, or wind up getting sidetracked into working on projects for other people.  Eff what you heard! well, unfortunately, I was not able to use my (allegedly) close personal relationship with Jamar Nicholas to get him to leak any advance artwork from his groundbreaking new graphic adaptation of Geoff Canada's gripping memoir Fist Stick Knife Gun: A Personal History of Violence. But the book will be in every major bookstore in the free world on Tuesday the 14th, so you can easily see for your damn self.
