Congratulations! You made it to the weekend! So let's celebrate by checking out this #FanArtFriday drawing I made of Cannonball from The New Mutants and X-Force.
Cannonball is Sam Guthrie, the oldest son of a large coal mining family from rural Kentucky. Cannonball was always one of my favorite characters from New Mutants because his power is very limited and specific. His body generates jet propulsion and an impenetrable force field, making him a human... well... cannonball. As he gets better at using his powers, grows in intelligence and skill, he climbs the ranks of the mutant teams. He reminds me of the young, wide-eyed soldiers I would encounter on the army base where I grew up.
