I was a senior in high school when the third album from EPMD arrived in stores in the little military town where I grew up. I was a fully invested EPMD fan by then, having already heard what would wind up being my favorite song of all time (So Wat Cha Sayin? before you ask) on the previous album Unfinished Business, and the release of Business as Usual did nothing to slow the momentum of my fandom.
When I saw Business as Usual on the racks at the Renaissance Records, I immediately recognized the cover art to come from the hand of envelope-pushing comics artist Bill Sienkiewicz (Moon Knight, New Mutants, Elektra:Assassin, Elektra Lives Again). This was a transcendent moment for me, as it always was when I saw my two loves (comics and hip hop) hanging out together.
Sigh...
Anyways, for some reason, I really wanted to hear Hardcore tonight. This song was my introduction to Redman, one of the dopest emcees of all time.
Good stuff.
Welp... Before I launch into a long-form piece no one is gonna read, I'm gonna bounce!
Have great weekend!

Samax Amen is a professional Content Developer, Illustrator and Cartoonist. He is the artist of many great comics you never heard of like Herman Heed, Champion of Children, The Brother and The World As You Know It. He even writes and draws his own comics, like Dare: The Adventures of Darius Davidson, Spontaneous, and Manchild when he gets around to it. Because making comics is hard and stuff, he started GhettoManga as a blog in 2006 and as a print magazine in 2008.
