When the first issue of GhettoManga Quarterly was printed way back in 2008, it had an ad on the back cover for a webcomic called BlackGuard, paid for by the Brothers of Spontaneous Combustion also known as the Smith Brothers.
Now the BoSC team is turning their hilariously irreverent story of a Civil Rights Era super hero leading a team of super-villains against the forces of evil into an extremely cool series of cartoon shorts.
BlackGuard works as a parody of books like Thunderbolts and Suicide Squad, as well as a satirical look at the gap between different camps in the black community.
It is a story that exemplifies what we stand for here at GhettoManga, and it has never looked better! The team is looking to raise bread to do it right, so hit them up on Kickstarter!
Samax Amen is a professional Content Developer, Illustrator and Cartoonist. He is the artist of many great comics you never heard of like Herman Heed, Champion of Children, The Brother and The World As You Know It. He even writes and draws his own comics, like Dare: The Adventures of Darius Davidson, Spontaneous, and Manchild when he gets around to it. Because making comics is hard and stuff, he started GhettoManga as a blog in 2006 and as a print magazine in 2008.
