Iron Man star Terrence Howard got the boot from the super-popular superhero franchise because he wanted too much money... or so the story goes... "the contracts that we write and sign aren't worth the paper that they're printed on..." said Howard, in an NPR interview, denying that he was vying for more scrilla.
As far as i know, Howard is being replaced in IM2 by Don Cheadle (Traitor, Ocean's 11, Hotel Rwanda, Devil In A Blue Dress), but DC hasn't released a statement yet... whoever portrays Jim Rhodes in the next Iron Man will be suiting up in the souped up Mark II armor in an increased role as War Machine, just like he did in the comics when Tony was too sauced to fly...

This is wild. I like howard but Don Cheadle is that dude. As long as they didn't get ne-yo or bow wow to play the role I'm content
bow wow...
that would be funny...
I am not sad about this at all, Terrence didnt seem like a good fit to me. But niether is Don, I remember the character in the comic book being a bit physically intimdating. Especially when the armor started to give him head aches.
good point, mike...
i like Ving Rhames if you wanna cast to that type. he's due for a super hero role (they didn't cast him as Hellboy as i suggested, so Rhodey or maybe Luke Cage will do...)
Luke Cage would be good for Ving.
Howard was the first person cast for the first IRON MAN, and he got more money initially than the other cast - Downey had NOTHING to do with Howard not being in the IM2 film: that was Howard's doing. He wanted more money, and no one wanted to put up with him again.
