you've heard it all before: the government has a secret project that creates ultra-violent super-soldiers (i believe Mark Millar coined the term "persons of mass destruction") that can be pointed at our enemies... what writer Hector Lima and artist Irapuan Luiz manage to do is breathe life into their action/conspiracy comic The Major by the virtuousity of execution alone! that means it's good... DAMN good...
and the Violence... the violence in The Major: Bombs Over Brazil is horror movie sublime! the title character, a fly by the seat of his pants killing machine, kills and kills and kills those in the way of his mysterious objective... he doesn't know much more than we do (because he doesn't read the project profile closley), but it's all fun and games anyways! artist Irapuan Luiz high-detail work reminds me of Corben in its gritty gorey goodness, which works well with the jaded but funny tone of the writing.
so if you like widescreen, action movie violence, just bounce over to IndyPlanet and COP The Major.
uno.
