Coronavirus VIII: Prisons & Jails: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

Most of my readers know I actively speak against the U.S. Slavery Prison System.  You might also know I'm raising money for Direct Relief to fight Coronavirus.

Worlds collided again on Last Week Tonight...
The sales pitch:
As US prisons and jails see an alarming spike in COVID-19 infections, John Oliver discusses why the virus has spread so rapidly behind bars and what we can do to stop it.

If you've been around me or been reading GhettoManga very much, you know I often advocate for the rights of inmates.

I've been raising money for the Innocence Project, which fights to get innocent people out of prison, AND Direct Relief, which makes protective equipment for medical professionals fighting Coronavirus (for example: buy this Limited Edition SLAPS Sticker Pack, and $4 will get split between these charities) for months.

But even inmates who are guilty should not be subjected to these conditions.  You do not forfeit your human rights when you go to prison.

One of the things that made Juneteenth hard for me to enjoy is the continued dehumanization of the over 2 million people incarcerated U.S. prisons.

peace.
