You like badass chicks, right? Check out @BOOMstudios' punk-rock Trade Paperback CURB STOMP!

Before I forget, here's a preview of that Curb Stomp trade paperback BOOM! is dropping this week...
Here's the sales pitch:
Three gangs. Five girls. No way out. Machete Betty leads a small gang of women under the self-appointed task of protecting their home of Old Beach, one of three boroughs surrounding a rich metropolitan city. When Betty takes the life of a rival gang member in an act of self-defense, she sets off a chain reaction of retaliation, gang warfare, and unlikely allies. It’s up to the The Fever—Machete Betty, Derby Girl, Bloody Mary, Daisy Chain, and Violet Volt—to defend their turf at all costs. Collects the complete four-issue limited series.

People complain a lot about the representation of women in comics, groaning about impossible oversexed anatomy, the tyranny of gender limitations, and all that shit.  That is all legitimate shit to complain about, but I'm not really into complaining, shaming, or taking away genres of media from their fans.

Rather than point at wack options and say "That's wack", My preference is almost always to promote better options.  I think this is a superior tactic to boycotts, ranting, and hating (although I have been known to do all three), so I try to stick to that on GhettoManga.  I don't make it my business to silence voices I disagree with, I want to see them overcome by a better message.

The way I see it, you need it all. Variety (and more of it) solves everything. If everybody gets what they like/need, everybody wins. I don't know if girls like comics about badass chicks or not, but I love to see content-creators, publishers, and other media outlets putting super-tough stories for/ by/ about girls and women out there.  Curb Stomp definitely delivers on that score. It's not everything, but it's something.  And a pretty good something, at that.  So if you like this brand of girl power, buy it so they can afford to make more!
