IN STORES NOW- INVINCIBLE #92

Kirkman's Invincible continues to be one of the best books on shelves, and if all the superhero franchise movies are actually converting anyone to reading superhero comics (yeah, right) Invincible is the book they should get into. The current story has Bulletproof filling in for the real Invincible, with mixed results. Here's a preview...

I totally missed it- "GENIUS" by Afua Richardson

I first came across Afua Richardson years ago on the Artxilla message boards back when that was my primary method of scouting talent and sharing my own work. She was going by the name Lakota Sioux back then, and her work was pretty good. I went through period where I was spending less time socializing with artists and more time prospecting for clients (with mixed results), and she was one of the people who I just lost track of.  In that time, Afua's work REALLY took off, including doing the art on Genius for Top Cow's Pilot Season, which eventually spawned a mini-series. Here's the Pilot issue of Genius, in it's entirety.

Now that this fresh tale of a fed up young princess taking matters into her own hands has swept the Glyphs and been collected into the trade paperback Save Yourself (yes, I bought that too), I guess I need to get in gear and review this thing...

PREVIEW- Powers #10 by Bendis and Oeming

I haven't read Powers in a long time, but this comic about cops who specialize in superhuman homicide cases was at the very top of my must-read list back in the day. The combination of Oeming's signature cartoon style and Bendis' potty-mouthed Tarrintinoesque dialogue has been sorely missing from my life, as my reaction to these preview pages reveals...

Misty Knight by Samax (in progress... more after the blah blah)
Yeah, it is well known that I heart me some Misty Knight. Plus, she's HAWT! so anyways, I painted her. Peep...

KICKSTART THIS- "Sullivan's Sluggers" by Mark Andrew Smith & James Stokoe

Unlike our's, Mark Andrew Smith and James Stokoe's Kickstarter campaign  for their baseball horror graphic novel Sullivan's Sluggers doesn't need you. Sure, when I checked the link for it and put in my little $30 pledge, they had already raised something like 450 bucks of their $6,000 goal. By the time I got home from work, got my three year old fed, bathed and in the bed and sat down at my computer to drop this blog about it, it was at over $16,000 (a little less than three times the goal for those keeping score at home). So I know they don't need me to promote it, or you to pledge on it. But what the hell? Let's do it anyways...
