I found out about Moebius' passing from my friend and partner in comics Michael lagocki of ArtLoveMagic, who posted about it on Facebook:

Even if you have never seen and enjoyed his work first hand, Moebius has had such an impact on contemporary comics and illustration that it's impossible to have escaped its influence. We will definitely miss him, but at 73 years old he left a phenomenal body of work
that will ensure he is always remembered.

Damn that sucks, I remember loving his work before I even knew who he was. That illustrated version of Paolo Coehlo's "The Alchemist" was the killer though.
I need to check for that one... not familiar with it. Dude was a monolith in comics. His work will continue to make his name great.
