I never read Alien Legion, the sporadic yet long-running science fiction comic by Chuck Dixon, Carl Potts and Larry Stroman, but from all accounts this new series from Titan will not require knowledge of the previous books to enjoy.
Here's the sales pitch:
WITH ALIEN LEGION, THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS ‘PEACEKEEPING’
The Bospers of Force Nomad return once more to the pages of Alien Legion!
Detailed with providing humanitarian (and all other species!) support to refugees fleeing a civil war on the planet Harkilon, Force Nomad is hoping for a push-over peacekeeping milk.
Instead, smugglers are using the refugees as cover and it only takes one itchy trigger finger to turn a diplomatic mission into a SNAFU of galactic proportions!
Uncivil War marks the return of Chuck Dixon (Punisher War Journal, Savage Sword of Conan) and the art genius of Larry Stroman and Carl Potts to the Legion after 15 rammin’ years!
I love it already! I fell in love with Stroman's quirky character designs and kinetic art on X-Factor and his creator owned book TRIBE back in the nineties. Although he didn't completely disappear from the scene when the indy comics bubble burst, Stroman's distinct visual voice has definitely been missing from the conversation for too long. Let's hope Uncivil War marks a triumphant and long-term return to greatness for one of my favorite cartoonists! Whatever the case, the second issue of Titan Comics' relaunch of Alien Legion hits stores July 23rd.
Peace,

Samax Amen draws people, places and things for fun and profit. He is the artist of many great comics you never heard of like Herman Heed, Champion of Children, The Brother and The World As You Know It. He even writes and draws his own comics, like Dare: The Adventures of Darius Davidson, Spontaneous, and Manchild when he gets around to it. Because making comics is hard and stuff, he started GhettoManga as a blog in 2006 and as a print magazine in 2008.
