ODB The Movie?

Looks like the RZA is working the angles to get a biopic made of his cousin and fellow Wu-Tang Clansmen, the late great Old Dirty Bastard (RIP '68-'04). In an excellent interview with the AV Club, RZA spoke on the possibilities.

“We have talked about it. His estate is pretty confused... on what to do, and all the rights and all that shit, but it’s definitely been talked about... So we’ll see what life brings. In my opinion, I’d rather see an ODB pic than a Wu-Tang Clan pic. But an ODB pic, just to really describe his life, would be good. Right now, there is a documentary that’s done that’s pretty good. It ain’t a knock out of the park, but it’s pretty good, it gives a nice piece of him. Then you start with that, and we can build more awareness about his life, and build more interest in people seeing a movie about it.”

the internets are alive with the sound of people speculating as to who could play ole Dirt Mcgirt, and unfortunately, all the wrong names are being thrown around, most notably Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan. i would actually prefer to see a real actor cast to play Dirt. i don't understand why you would cast a comedian. i think odb was dead serious most of the time, just very eccentric. i hope they get an actual actor, and let the laughs come from the situations, not from making it a shitty slapstick movie.

I'd prefer more of an arthouse style film, and if i had my say, i'd probably cast Chiwetel Ejiofor (Redbelt, Four Brothers, Inside Man, Children of Men, Talk to Me). He has tons of charisma and on-screen gravity, plus he strikes me as actor enough to really give in to any role he takes. paired with the right director, we could have a hip hop classic on our hands! but it's all dreams and spec right now... what do you think? who would you want to star? to direct? what direction do you think an ODB biopic should take?
holla!

Chiwetel is the man, I could see it, Jeffrey Wright also, that guy is a metamorph on screen, definitely needs a str8 up actor
