I really like seeing you talk about how the art form and industry are seperate things.

yeah, it's an important distinction. At one point, it looked like Marvel would go bankrupt, and drag the american comics industry into a sinkhole, and I really saw the difference between the 'industry' and the art form.

like with hip hop, people see comics as not going past what its largest industry outlets put forth as comics. but there's a whole universe of stuff beyond that.

the comics industry is a badly conceived and poorly constructed mess. but the artform remains vibrant and alive.

I couldn't say it better myself. Regardless of what may become of the industry, the comic book culture is has a figurative universe still to explore and discover. New stories, new techniques; we keep it movin' twice the speed.

right. so many things we haven't even tried yet. and manga is putting to shame the myth that girls don't read, or that kids won't read anymore...
